Are there ice hockey players or figure skaters with an African heritage?

My bf said that their people are built for strength and speed but not on finesse. He said that they will never excel in these types of sports.
It took a halfbreed(?) to excel in golf. Tiger Woods is half Thai.

What do you think is the reason behind this? Do you agree with my boyfriend?

He is wrong. there are at least three. It is not a race problem to do with physic but it is an oppurtunity problem. Not many black kids get exposed to hockey and even fewer get encouraged to try it out. Same thing with figure skating.
please look at these links;
I am not black and this is not about racism.
Yes, but there aren’t very many of them.
It might be due to ecomomic status too. Figure skating is time and money consuming and is often only pursued by the more wealthy.
That said, surya bonaly is an example of an a skater with african heritage. She is french by nationality. However, she is not known for her artistic finesse, and is mainly lauded for her great jumping and acrobatic ability.
I cannot think of her name right now, but she won a bronze medal in figure skating in the 1994 winter olympics. Her last name is Bobili (not sure of the spelling). First name is something like Sureya? I watched her in that competition and she was fantastic. She should have gotten the silver, but I think they felt sorry for Nancy Kerrigan that year after she was attacked. She really stunk, but they gave her the silver anyway.
