human beings. if you are talking directly you do not have to refer as anything. it is acceptable.. to refer to the race as a group.. as black.. others may still prefer african american. neither one is considered offensive. colored has not been proper for a long long time. surprised you just discovered that. in any nationality… outsiders should stay away from any pet names the race calls itself.

Hey I feel you, I just asked the same question on another post. apparently Kelly doesn’t have the intellect to type without cursing so blow her off. I am from Oklahoma, and there were no black kids in our school, so I like yourself just didn’t want to offend anyone, I think of colored as all races outside of white though… white is a color though.. hmmm. My black friend says black…. my friend from mexico gets ticked at mexican though, she says she’s spanish. Wo whos hispanic, latino, … uh, I feel you because I apparently am not with the times at all. I am not Indian anymore, I am Native American…lol.
The point is that you are trying to be polite and politically correct, bless your heart!

why is this even a question? people, last time I checked, like to be referred to by their names, not some “title”… if you want to be politically correct and just sound normal, you will say African American or just plain American, will do~

Well I prefer to be called black. NOT African American and definitely NOT colored.
